The other day I was in Stoke Newington with my old friend, Carmel. She grew up in this part of London and happily showed me the cafes, graveyard, hidden junk stores and the SECOND largest disco ball in EUROPE. This is it – pic. by Hackney Council. We weren’t allowed in the hall, but we saw it peeking through the high panes. I can only imagine the balls, dances, weddings and party bonanzas that have taken place here. The EMOTION!
It goes perfectly with the shining light of this song. Gotye feat. Kimbra. I thought Sting was back when I first heard it, together with a bit of feisty Cyndi Lauper/Santigold/Katy Perry.
Loving this song in Lionheart HQ. Especially as the cat colleague, Francois (see. p.77 of issue one) has gone AWOL again. ‘Somebody I used to know!’ It’s being sung all day. Tom cats aside, it’s that love that perseveres, you see them and the heart aches, the magic shoots and the memories flood. Unfinished business, nostalgic passion, a summer gone. Was it love? Ya know? Ooh, I just said that darn summer word. It’s fine, this frankly FREEZING weather can be pretty and who doesn’t love hot tea and crumpets, mixed with a little dancing to an excellent, wondrous song?
Information: The man is essentially naked in his video, but no, he’s not cold. Other info. he is called Gotye – Wouter ‘Wally’ De Backer (Gotye derives from Gaultier, the French translation of Wouter), is Belgian Australian, one third of Melbourne indie band, The Basics, and has won many awards. Tremendous circle spinning (psychologically and physically) music!

Thanks for sharing. I’m off to download. (If you like this, you might also like Psapp and their album The Only Thing I Ever Wanted. There’s some great cat references in it.)
